Jen Psaki Will Leave White House This Spring To Take New Job With MSNBC: Report

The revolving door of Washington D.C. is in full effect as White House press secretary Jen Psaki is getting ready to move on to MSNBC according to a report from Axios. It has long been known that Psaki was leaving Biden’s mess behind soon and she was being courted by multiple networks.

According to the report, Psaki will have her own show on NBCUniversal’s streaming platform Peacock. With reports that CNN’s streaming platform CNNplus is flopping Psaki may not have that gig for long.

She will also appear on MSNBC’s cable network as a rotating contributor but she will not get the coveted 9 p.m. slot to replace Rachel Maddow Axios claims. Psaki’s deal is similar to another Biden admin official, Symone Sanders, who also moved on to a role with MSNBC and the streaming service.

Many former White House communications professionals have moved on to network and cable television and that is the problem.

The revolving door between politics, lobbyists, media, and government work is so often blurred that credibility and impartiality are just not possible for those going back and forth because they always have a hidden angle.

Axios reported:

Details: Psaki has been in close consultation with the White House counsel’s office about her departure, according to two sources familiar with the plans. She’s been treading carefully on the ethics and legal aspects of her plans.

No contracts have been signed. Government ethics rules have stipulations about how public employees can pursue private sector job opportunities while in office.

She’s also told some senior officials at the White House about her departure and her plans to join MSNBC, according to two sources.

Psaki has not yet formally told the White House press team about her departure, an administration source tells Axios.

MSNBC has been working with its compliance lawyers to make sure their conversations didn’t violate any government regulations, according to a source close to the matter.

Psaki is now in exclusive talks with MSNBC, and the deal is nearly final. It was reported by Puck last month that Psaki also had conversations with CNN and that other networks had expressed interest in signing her.
