Bombshell US Warning Drops
Millions of Americans Warned to Brace for Hazardous Winter Storm Expected to Bring Large Quantities of Snow and Ice
Millions of Americans are being warned to brace for a hazardous winter storm expected to hammer large portions of the country with heavy snow, ice, and dangerous travel conditions heading into the weekend.
The National Weather Service issued winter storm warnings early Friday across wide swaths of the United States, cautioning that some regions could see snowfall totals reaching up to three feet.
Alerts were active in parts of California, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Alaska as the powerful system continued to intensify.
In California’s Mono County, forecasters said additional snowfall could reach between one and three feet above 8,000 feet, with four to twelve inches expected at lower elevations and along U.S. Route 395.
The Lake Tahoe region is also bracing for heavy accumulation. The NWS forecasted eight to sixteen inches for many communities, with totals reaching up to three feet in higher elevations above 7,000 feet.
“Travel could be very difficult to impossible,” the National Weather Service warned. “The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.”
Forecasters also cautioned that strong winds accompanying the storm could cause widespread damage. “Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines,” the agency said.
Across the Mountain West, winter storm warnings covered major regions of Idaho, including the Sawtooth and Stanley Basin, Sun Valley, and the Bear River Range.
Up to 18 inches of snow was forecast in parts of Idaho through early Saturday, with similar totals expected in Wyoming’s Sierra Madre Range and Colorado’s Elkhead and Park mountains, as Trending Politics reported.
The storm is also set to slam the Northeast, where winter storm warnings were issued for southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York.
Forecasters said those areas could see as much as nine inches of snow between Friday afternoon and early Saturday, creating dangerous road conditions.
Parts of Pennsylvania, including northern Wayne and Pike counties, were also expected to see significant snowfall as the system moved east.
Winter weather advisories were issued for a long list of additional states, including Washington, Oregon, Montana, Utah, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and Massachusetts.
“The upper Midwest will see a swathe of snow and ice blossoming this morning,” the NWS Weather Prediction Center said, pointing to a fast-moving clipper system colliding with Arctic air.
Forecasters warned freezing rain could impact areas from lower Michigan to Pennsylvania, including major cities like Baltimore and Philadelphia, while New York City and Long Island were expected to receive four to eight inches of snow.
“Road conditions will be treacherous for those traveling back from the holiday,” the National Weather Service cautioned as millions prepare for another dangerous winter blast.
A major winter storm is making the post-Christmas travel extremely dangerous in parts of the Northeast.
