Trump Goes Nuclear on Jack Smith’s ‘Scam’ Case After New 1/6 Evidence Made Public 33 Days Before Election: ‘Disobeyed Their Own Rule’

President Donald Trump has lashed out at Special Counsel Jack Smith following the release of new evidence related to the January 6th Capitol riots.

The revelation comes just weeks before the highly anticipated election, intensifying an already heated race.

Trump linked the release of this information to the previous night’s debate performance of Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Governor Tim Walz.

He suggested that the Justice Department’s actions were an attempt to distract from Walz’s showing against JD Vance.

Daily Mail reported that on Wednesday, Washington, DC Judge Tanya Chutkan made the controversial decision to unseal 165 pages of evidence in Trump’s case, despite objections from his legal team.

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, amongst plenty of others, blasted Smith and the DOJ for politicizing this case from the start and of “undeniable partisan tactics.”

One X user said, “The only reasons the dossier got released by Jack Smith today is because Kamala’s campaign is in SHAMBLES and Walz had the absolute WORST debate possible.”

“Do NOT get distracted. We have just over a month to go.”

The documents expose private conversations Trump had with employees, lawyers, and allies, providing an unprecedented glimpse into the former president’s actions surrounding the events of January 6th.

Trump wasted no time in responding to the release, taking to his Truth Social platform to voice his outrage.

In a fiery all-caps message, he accused President Biden’s Justice Department of “election interference,” arguing that such actions should not occur within 60 days of an election.

“They disobeyed their own rule,” Trump proclaimed.

ABC News noted that while the Department of Justice (DOJ) does not have an official rule prohibiting cases from being brought forward close to elections, it is generally considered a standard practice to avoid the appearance of political motivation.

Trump’s supporters view this move as a clear violation of this unwritten code.

The former president’s ire was particularly directed at Special Counsel Jack Smith, who has continued to press forward with the trial.

This persistence comes despite a recent Supreme Court ruling that granted presidents immunity from prosecution for official actions taken while in office, effectively pushing the trial beyond the upcoming election.

Smith’s filing argues that Trump’s conduct surrounding January 6th falls outside the realm of official presidential acts, describing it as a “private criminal effort” to subvert the 2020 US election.

This characterization has further inflamed tensions between Trump and the Justice Department.

The newly released documents shed light on tense conversations between Trump and his former Vice President, Mike Pence, regarding the certification of the election results.

They also detail actions Trump allegedly took to cast doubt on vote tallies in crucial swing states, per Daily Mail.

Trump maintains his innocence, dismissing the case as a “scam” and comparing it to other legal challenges he has faced.

He argues that the timing of the release is a calculated move by the Biden administration to interfere with the election process.

As the election draws near, this latest development has added another layer of complexity to an already contentious race.

With both sides accusing the other of undermining democratic processes, voters are left to navigate an increasingly turbulent political landscape.
