Dr Phil Joins ICE Raid, is Left Stunned by Illegal Alien’s Shock Admission While Being Detained
In a dramatic encounter during Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Chicago, television personality Dr. Phil McGraw confronted an illegal immigrant convicted of child sex crimes who denied being a sex offender during his arrest.
McGraw, 74, joined Border Czar Tom Homan and ICE officers during a nationwide immigration enforcement operation that resulted in 956 arrests on Sunday.
The operation marked the largest single-day arrest total since President Trump’s inauguration, signaling a significant escalation in federal immigration enforcement efforts.
During the televised encounter, McGraw questioned a handcuffed detainee later identified as Sam Seda from Thailand.
The exchange grew tense when McGraw asked about Seda’s criminal history involving children, to which Seda responded “Not really,” leaving the television host visibly shocked.
Homan then revealed that Seda was “an illegal alien convicted of sex crimes involved children,” using the case to demonstrate what he described as the dangers posed by sanctuary city policies.
Daily Mail reported that the operation spanned multiple major metropolitan areas including Denver, Austin, San Jose, Los Angeles, Miami, Detroit, Phoenix, Atlanta and regions of New Jersey.
ICE agents specifically targeted individuals deemed high-priority, with officials reporting the arrest of various “public safety threats” including sex offenders, convicted murderers and five members of Tren de Aragua criminal organization.
Local authorities in Chicago maintained their sanctuary city stance during the operations, creating visible tension between federal and local law enforcement priorities.
Mayor Brandon Johnson publicly announced that the Chicago Police Department would not participate in the raids.
Similarly, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker appeared on CNN’s State of the Union, firmly stating that local police would not coordinate with federal officials without proper warrants.
Daily Mail outlined that Homan vigorously defended the operations against mounting criticism, emphasizing their targeted nature.
“We spend a lot of time investigating these people, we know exactly who we’re looking for,” he said during the operation.
He particularly used Seda’s case to highlight what he perceives as the dangerous consequences of sanctuary city policies, arguing that such policies enable dangerous criminals to remain within communities unchecked.
The Washington Post reported that the Trump administration has directed ICE to significantly increase daily arrests to between 1,200 and 1,500, a substantial jump from the current average of 433.
Sources familiar with presidential briefings indicate Trump’s dissatisfaction with the current pace of deportations, implementing new requirements for ICE field offices to achieve 75 arrests daily with accountability measures for missing quota targets.
The operation has faced significant international pushback, particularly from Colombia, which has refused to accept military flights carrying deportees.
The situation escalated when Colombian President Gustavo Petro publicly criticized Trump, using strong language to accuse him of being a “white slaveholder” and suggesting his policies could “wipe out the human species.”

McGraw, who had previously spoken at a Trump campaign event in October, defended the approach on social media, stating that ICE aimed to pick up 270 “high-value targets” and emphasizing that “They’re not sweeping neighborhoods like people are trying to imply.”
The migrant arrests in Chicago were part of a larger operation targeting approximately 300 individuals in the city and surrounding areas, including 150 who had previously been in police custody, according to Homan’s statements to Dr. Phil.
