Federal Investigation Confirms FEMA Official Ordered Workers to Skip Pro-Trump Homes
When Americans face natural disasters, they expect government assistance regardless of their political beliefs. After all, your tax dollars fund these emergency services whether you’re a Republican or Democrat. But a disturbing investigation has revealed how deep-rooted anti-conservative bias can corrupt even the most basic government functions.
The American principle of equal treatment under the law came under direct assault when federal disaster relief workers were secretly ordered to discriminate against certain hurricane victims in Florida. Spoiler alert: They specifically targeted Trump supporters.
What started as whispered complaints from relief workers has now exploded into formal charges of illegal political activity at the highest levels of FEMA’s disaster response team. Sound like government discrimination? That’s because it is.
In a bombshell revelation, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC) has filed an official complaint against former FEMA supervisor Marn’i Washington for ordering staff to deliberately skip homes displaying Trump 2024 campaign signs while providing Hurricane Milton disaster relief in Lake Placid, Florida.
The Initial Discovery
According to the OSC investigation, Washington issued explicit instructions in her “best practices” message to employees: “Avoid homes advertising Trump.”
Let that sink in – Americans denied emergency help because of their political beliefs. This directive resulted in at least 20 families being denied the opportunity to register for federal disaster assistance simply because they exercised their First Amendment right to political expression.
When initially confronted about these actions, Washington claimed there were safety threats from Trump supporters. (Funny how there’s not a single documented threat in any official report.)
“Washington’s instruction on October 22 to avoid homes with Trump 2024 campaign signage was not based upon any reported safety concerns from Crew 33 because, at that time, Crew 33 had not yet begun canvassing,” the OSC said in its complaint.
The OSC’s findings paint a damning picture of politically-motivated discrimination. Not only did Washington lie about safety concerns, but she continued issuing these discriminatory orders even after workers began reporting their discomfort with skipping homes.
Between October 22 and October 26, 2024, relief workers documented multiple instances where they were forced to bypass homes displaying Trump support. Wonder why they’re trying so hard to hide this pattern?
A Pattern of Bias
More troubling still, this incident may represent just the tip of the iceberg. A FEMA whistleblower revealed that anti-conservative bias runs deeper within the agency, with employees receiving “very clear guidance” to be “mindful” when serving in conservative areas.
Translation: They’re teaching discrimination at the institutional level.
While FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell testified to Congress that Washington’s case was “an isolated incident,” mounting evidence suggests a concerning pattern of discrimination against conservative Americans during times of crisis. Your tax dollars at work, ladies and gentlemen.
The OSC has now charged Washington with two counts of violating the Hatch Act, including engaging in political activity while on duty and using official authority to interfere with an election. These charges carry potential civil penalties and could bar her from future federal employment.
This case represents a victory for government accountability, but it also serves as a stark warning about political bias in federal agencies. When government officials abuse their power to discriminate against Americans based on political beliefs, they violate not only agency policy but the fundamental principles of our republic.
