After Supreme Court Smashes Liberal Holy Grail, Democrat Senator Makes Wild Accusation
In recent weeks, it seems like Democrats are panicking over decisions being made by this conservative Supreme Court. It has upended fifty years of abortion practices in 2022, and the court continues to slaughter Democrats’ fattest prized calves. And there is little the left can do about it.
Recently, the court issued a ruling that shut down a Trump-era decision. Many believed Trump passed this rule due to pressure, not because it was the right thing to do.
Last week, the court made a ruling that ended this executive order — and once again, Democrats are crying foul. The court may make further inroads against this prized Democrat plot and now, one liberal senator is making a bold claim.
From The Hill:
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said in a Sunday interview the Supreme Court seems poised “to fundamentally rewrite” the Second Amendment and raised concerns about the high court’s decision to strike down the Trump-era ban on bump stocks…Murphy’s biggest concern, he said, “is that this Supreme Court has been signaling, in some of their decisions on guns, that they are readying to fundamentally rewrite the Second Amendment and take away permanently the ability of Congress to do simple things, like require people to go through a background check or move forward on taking dangerous weapons like AR-15s off of the streets.”
Apparently, Chris Murphy thinks only AR-15s are “dangerous weapons.” Um… hey, Chris? All guns are “dangerous weapons.” That’s the point. They give law-abiding citizens the power to protect themselves from very dangerous people or situations.
Otherwise, they are useless. The Democrat senator claimed the Supreme Court was going to “fundamentally rewrite” the Second Amendment, which doesn’t make a lot of sense, given how short the Second Amendment actually is. All it says is that Congress cannot infringe on Americans’ right to bear arms.
Murphy said this after the court overturned a ban on bump stocks, which has only been in effect for a few years. Before that, they were not illegal. So, how is the court “rewriting” the Second Amendment by simply overturning an order from Trump’s White House?
Democrats in Congress have “fundamentally” been rewriting that amendment for decades. They’ve added more burdens to the right to bear arms; they have forced Americans to jump through many hoops just to purchase a firearm. And in many states, buying a firearms is so difficult, many don’t even bother.
It seems the Supreme Court is restoring the Second Amendment, after Congress has tried so hard to water it down. Chris Murphy knows that full well. What he is suggesting—background checks and banning certain firearms—are measures that undermine the very purpose of the amendment.
