Dan Bongino Crushes Foreign Plot Theories in Presidential Assassination Attempts

Top FBI officials have definitively rejected theories suggesting foreign involvement in either of the 2023 assassination attempts against President Donald Trump.

In a revealing weekend interview, newly appointed Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino explicitly stated that despite extensive investigation, no evidence supports claims of foreign plots behind these attacks.

This conclusion contradicts widespread speculation among conservative circles.

The bombshell admission came during a joint interview with FBI Director Kash Patel on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, hosted by Maria Bartiromo.

The two MAGA loyalists, both recently appointed to their positions in the FBI leadership, have apparently reviewed all available evidence regarding both attempts on Trump’s life since taking office earlier this year.

Bartiromo pressed the officials on why Americans haven’t received more information about the assassination attempts that shocked the nation and fueled intense speculation.

While Patel was reluctant to comment extensively on active investigations, he did note that he and Bongino have gained significant insights since assuming their roles earlier this year.

Bongino, known for his straight-talking approach, offered a surprisingly direct response that may disappoint many conservatives who suspected deeper conspiracies at play in the attacks on the former and now current president.

“I’m not going to tell people what they want to hear. I’m going to tell you the truth. And whether you like it or not is up to you,” he stated firmly during the interview.

The Deputy Director then delivered the stark assessment that there was no “there” there, explaining that he and Patel were not provided any “logical, sensible reason” to believe larger plots were at play in either assassination attempt last year.

“I know people – I get it. I understand. It’s not there. If it was there, we would have told you,” promised Bongino, who transitioned to the FBI from his previous role as a conservative media personality.

Bongino emphasized the thoroughness of their investigation, noting that he and Patel have been “personally briefed extensively on every single detail, nugget, tendril of this case.”

Despite this comprehensive review, they found no evidence connecting either attack to foreign terrorism, a revelation that undermines months of speculation.

The first assassination attempt occurred on July 13, 2024, when 20-year-old Tomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The attack killed two individuals and left Trump with an ear wound.

In the aftermath of the Butler shooting, numerous theories emerged suggesting Crooks was part of a larger foreign-influenced plot targeting Trump before the 2024 election.

Bongino’s statements directly contradict these narratives, however, confirming that no evidence supports claims of Crooks working with outside entities.

The second attempt occurred just two months later on September 15, 2024, when Ryan Wesley Routh, 59, allegedly positioned himself near Trump’s Palm Beach golf course with a rifle.

A Secret Service agent spotted the rifle barrel protruding through shrubs approximately a few hundred yards from Trump and opened fire, causing Routh to flee before being apprehended by authorities.

While Crooks was killed by counter-snipers at the scene of the first attempt, Routh remains alive and his case is still proceeding through the courts.

“A lot of that information will come out in the federal court cases,” Patel noted regarding ongoing investigations.

He added, “But we have personally invested our time in making sure that we have looked at all the – any possible international connections to terrorism and adversaries alike.”
