Democrat Lawmaker Sues President Trump But Should’ve Checked Her Spam Folder First
It seems as if every elected Democrat from dogcatcher to Capitol Hill wants to take President Trump to court, but the vast majority of these knee-jerk efforts fall flat under even the slightest legal scrutiny.
One lawmaker’s recent experience might be the most embarrassing example yet.
Here’s what the Daily Caller reported:
Democratic Ohio Rep. Joyce Beatty was caught in a gaffe after suing President Donald Trump and the Kennedy Center’s board of trustees.
Beatty claimed she had been excluded from an upcoming March 16 meeting, where plans to overhaul the Kennedy Center are set to be formalized, The Hill reported.
She filed a lawsuit against the administration, but records later showed she had been invited — the email landed in her spam folder, according to her attorneys.
The lawyers’ admission quickly sparked widespread social media backlash against the Democratic lawmaker:
Not only is Beatty a dunce, so is everyone who voted for her. pic.twitter.com/4huEkKWNfi

Democrat Congresswoman’s Kennedy Center Lawsuit Implodes Over Spam Folder Blunder
Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio) filed a federal lawsuit against President Trump and the Kennedy Center board, claiming she was deliberately excluded from a key board meeting on revamping the institution. Her complaint accused the administration of snubbing her as an ex-officio trustee and sought to block the plans.
Turns out the invitation was sitting in her personal email spam folder the whole time.
Court filings show the Justice Department pointed this out, and Beatty’s own lawyers had to admit she eventually found it there. This embarrassing oversight came right before a hearing on her push for a restraining order.
The episode highlights the rush by some Democrats to litigate every Trump move—only to trip over basic email hygiene. Taxpayers foot the bill for lawsuits built on something as simple as checking the junk folder.
Classic case of crying foul before looking in the obvious place
Even in admitting the glaring oversight, Beatty’s attorneys still looked for a way to blame the Trump administration, as The Hill reported:
“Plaintiff appreciates Defendants’ confirmation that she can attend the meeting at the White House,” her lawyers wrote, noting that, “upon further investigation,” the email was found tucked away in spam.
However, they said it “bears emphasis” that when Beatty searched for and could not find the email last week, the Kennedy Center’s executive director, Richard Grenell, and general counsel “ignored her for two days.”
Beatty told reporters Thursday that her invitation to Kennedy Center board meetings has typically gone to her official scheduler and chief of staff. However, her chief of staff stopped receiving emails months ago, and her scheduler did not receive the invite to the March 16 meeting, she said.
Instead, it was sent to a personal email, where it ended up in spam.
“I doubt there’s a single person here who hasn’t had an email vanished somewhere in a spam filter,” lawyer Norm Eisen told reporters Thursday after the court hearing. “That’s what happened here.
“But the important thing is the congresswoman checked and they were silent,” he added.
The latest embarrassing episode came shortly after she demonstrated her far-left, anti-Trump agenda in a different format. Here’s the clip:
A majority of Americans support requiring an ID to vote, but Ohio Democrat Joyce Beatty says Republicans are trying "to dismantle, to gut, to suffocate, voting rights, and civil rights."
