Days Before Election, Warnock Lands in Hot Water – FEC Just Charged Senator with Funneling Campaign Funds into Childcare

The Georgia Senate race between Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker has never been tighter. Most polls show this critical race is now a “toss-up.”

However, other surveys indicate that Walker has pulled into the lead, which is cause for concern for Democrats. Sen. Warnock once held a healthy advantage during the summer.

Now, the incumbent faces another serious problem — and just days before voting kicks off.

Neither candidate can afford much bad press at this point. In the past few weeks, the GOP’s Walker has worked hard to push past the allegations of pressuring women into abortions.

He appears to have kept his momentum despite that potential scandal, though. And now Warnock has his own hurdle to clear:

According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, Sen. Warnock took over $60,000 in campaign funds and funneled it into personal childcare. If accurate, this could be a direct violation.

Via The Daily Wire:

Warnock’s campaign, according to the filings, spent a total of $61,959.40 for items listed as ‘childcare’ — with several payments going directly to specific childcare providers and a number of payments going to an organization called ‘Bright Start Nanny Service.’

This isn’t the first time Warnock has been accused of misusing campaign funds.

And it comes at a particularly bad time for the Democrat, who can ill-afford a possible scandal. The polls are extremely tight right now.

Even one or two points in the wrong direction, and Herschel Walker could take the upset victory.

Midterm voting is just about a week away and if voters view this campaign fund issue in a negative light, that might swing the polling.

Key Takeaways:

  • Sen. Raphael Warnock might’ve misused campaign funds for personal childcare expenses.
  • FEC filings say he took over $60K in funding, and one big payment ($11K) reportedly went directly to Warnock.
  • The race between Warnock and Walker in Georgia is a virtual tie, though some polls show Walker in the lead.
