After AOC Accuses Israel of “War Crimes” – Army Vet Schools Her on 2 Commonsense Facts
Radical liberals have long denounced U.S. efforts to curb violence in the Middle East. The attack by Hamas terrorists on Israel has prompted congressional representatives to become outspoken sympathizers of anyone against Israel.
When a country is attacked without provocation by terrorists most rational people would agree that the country has a right to defend itself. No matter how rational that sounds some radicals U.S. politicians seemingly want to protect the attackers.
A retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel called out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for her latest comments in the media where she attacked Israel. He slammed her for claiming that Israel is committing “war crimes.” Ret. Army Lt. Col. Geoffrey S. Corn schooled the “Squad” mouthpiece.
From Fox News:
“I think for somebody in a position of a member of Congress, they bear an obligation to ensure that before they accuse soldiers and pilots of committing war crimes, that they understand what the law is that dictates that accusation,” Corn said. “The fact that civilian casualties are inflicted during combat operations does not prove the commission of war crimes.”
Corn is a 21-year veteran Army officer and a distinguished college law professor. He served as a Judge Advocate General Corps. officer in the Army. He is also an advisor for the Jewish Institute of National Security for America and has studied legal issues related to conflicts in Israel.
Ocasio-Cortez said in a recent media interview that while Hamas has committed war crimes by taking hostages of children, the disabled, and the elderly. But she said that Israel’s response to those acts by blockading water, food, and electricity to Palestinians and also killing 1,700 Palestinian children is not a justified response.
The liberal “Squad” member also accused Israel of committing an “indiscriminate bombing campaign” against people in Gaza and questioned the effectiveness of recent response attacks.
Corn said it’s one thing to sympathize for the Palestinian population and people in Gaza caught up in the conflict. What he doesn’t understand is the quick judgment against Israel without knowing all the facts.
He pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez acknowledged the terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel on Oct. 7 were war crimes. Yet, she failed to recognize that those same terrorists have indiscriminately fired 8,000 rockets at Israeli civilian areas since then.
“Every time one of those rockets is fired, it is a war crime because the law of war doesn’t focus on whether you kill civilians,” Corn said. “It focuses on the fact that you’re trying to kill civilians.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s claims against Israel are “factually and legally invalid,” according to the law professor.
