AOC Wrecked by Sudden Revolt – Her Own Residents Just Gave Her a Brutal Wake-Up Call
Americans in any political district expect their elected representatives to listen to them and act on their concerns. When these trusted officials don’t deliver, they can face harsh backlash from their supporters.
One of the darlings of the Democratic Party is being called out by a growing revolt among supporters back home. Living it up in D.C. while the people who sent this representative to Capitol Hill suffer back home isn’t fermenting well with voters.
Residents of Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional district let her know how they feel about the ongoing New York City crime wave, the migrant crisis and her abandoning them. Disgruntled voters who supported the liberal Democrat slammed AOC on Tuesday during a segment of “Fox and Friends Weekend.”
From the Daily Caller:
“She is never here,” one woman said of the Democratic representative. “I was a volunteer for her. She completely abandoned our community.”“We would ask her to do her job of taking care of this neighborhood, to do a better job,” one man told Campos-Duffy when asked what he would say to Ocasio-Cortez.
“She should come and walk around here and see all, see everything” another man said. “All the garbage, all the people getting robbed during the daytime and the nighttime.”
AOC is a loyal supporter of Joe Biden and she has towed the line for the president’s leftist narrative since he took office. Biden’s policies, which have led to the migrant crisis in New York City aren’t what these voters wanted from their representative.
“There’s so much immigration now,” one man told Rachel Campos-Duffy who conducted the street interviews. “There’s so many Venezuelans, Ecuadorians, Mexicans that crossed over. You know, due to Biden.”
The crime surge in the Big Apple also isn’t winning many new votes, or keeping old ones, in the liberal’s district. Several women expressed fear about the district because “you cannot walk around” after 7 p.m. and one woman said she feels “very unsafe, truly” after three attempted assaults against her. One man was blunt with a question about rising crime.
“Crime? Yeah, more crime. There’s more crime going on. Robberies, a lot of crackheads,” he replied.
Businesses are also feeling the negative effects of crime with some closing early each day. A man and woman who own a café explained how business are suffering.
“Brick-and-mortar businesses are suffering a lot. We have a lot of closed doors, a lot of businesses that are just closing every single day because they can’t compete with the prices that the street vendors outside are, are giving everyone,” another man said.
Crime is such an ongoing problem that Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has deployed the National Guard and the New York State Police (NYSP) to New York City subways. Random bag checks are now common during the daily commute for many New Yorkers making their way in and out of the crime-ridden city.
