Minutes After Pence Insults Trump – Donald Reacts with 1 Blistering Response
This week, Donald Trump laid out his abortion policy. The former president vowed to uphold Reagan-era exceptions for abortion. He also supported IVF and other measures—in what might have been an appeal to moderate, pro-choice voters.
Hardliners within the Republican Party were not pleased with Trump’s response. Trump rebuked Sen. Lindsey Graham, claiming the senator’s stance has changed frequently.
Another Republican taking shots at Trump’s statement is former Vice President Mike Pence. Trump wasn’t going to ignore Pence’s criticisms. So, he fired back with a strong rebuttal.
From Fox News:
Former President Trump lashed out at his former vice president in the wee hours of Wednesday over disagreement on abortion policy…“Former Vice President (thank you President Trump!) Mike Pence has been doing a lot of talking about Abortion lately. He never felt I would be able to kill Roe v Wade and bring it back to the States where, according to all legal scholars, it belongs,” Trump wrote.
“He started at no abortion for any reason, and then allowing abortions for up to 6 weeks, then up to 15 weeks, and then, who knows?” the former president asserted.
Donald Trump reacted to Pence’s criticisms of his abortion policy. Hardliner pro-life Republicans have been critical of Trump’s approach—which would allow abortions up to a certain time and provide exemptions under certain circumstances.
Many pro-life Republicans want a total abortion ban, with no exceptions. Trump’s stance could win over moderates and those who believe exceptions should be allowed.
Trump exposed Pence, claiming the vice president didn’t believe Trump could overturn Roe v. Wade. He accused Pence of changing his abortion stance repeatedly in the past.
Once again, Trump explained that Republicans won’t be able to get a full abortion ban when even a few Democrats are in power. He has previously warned that Republicans need to settle the issue with some form of compromise, or Democrats will continue to use it to dominate in swing elections.
Trump then blasted Democrats, suggesting they want extreme abortion policy, including “the execution of a baby after birth.” It appears Trump is reminding Pence and other Republicans that his abortion policy is far less radical than Democrats’.
