‘The View’ Token Conservative Host Breaks Down: ‘I Cry at Work’ but ‘my Bosses Will Never Know’

Alyssa Farah Griffin made a startling admission during Wednesday’s broadcast of “The View,” revealing she has shed tears multiple times while serving as the show’s lone conservative voice.

Griffin disclosed her emotional struggles during a segment about workplace stress among Generation Z workers.

The discussion centered around a Vice article exploring how young employees cope with anxiety by retreating to workplace restrooms.

“I cry at work, but I hide it, my bosses will never know,” Griffin stated, catching fellow co-host Sunny Hostin off guard with her candid revelation.

The conservative panelist did not hold back when pressed for details about her workplace experiences.

She quantified her emotional episodes with specificity that underscored the intensity of her position.

“I have cried at this job at least half a dozen times,” Griffin continued, drawing immediate attention from her co-hosts.

Joy Behar pressed Griffin for concrete examples, demanding she explain what triggered her tears.

Griffin attributed her emotional responses to the challenging nature of her role on the panel.

She described the difficulty of maintaining her conservative perspective while surrounded by liberal colleagues.

“This is a very hard job to do, and I oftentimes have the only opinion that’s different at a table of five people,” Griffin explained, punctuating her statement with nervous laughter.

The former Trump administration official joined “The View” as the replacement for Meghan McCain, who departed the show in 2021.

Griffin’s tenure has been markedly different from her predecessor’s more combative approach.

Griffin previously served in President Donald Trump’s White House during the final months of his first term.

She later became a vocal critic of her former employer after leaving the administration.

The conservative host’s political evolution became evident during the 2024 election cycle.

She joined her liberal co-hosts in supporting former Vice President Kamala Harris over Trump.

Griffin shares the conservative perspective alongside Ana Navarro, a Republican who now predominantly supports Democratic candidates.

Despite the emotional toll, Griffin expressed gratitude for her position and praised the show’s production team.

She specifically mentioned producer Brian Teta’s supportive approach during difficult moments.

“I would like to state, for the record, this is a great job and every time I’ve cried, Brian gives great hugs,” Griffin added, attempting to balance her criticism with appreciation.

The workplace dynamics at “The View” have long been a subject of public scrutiny.

Whoopi Goldberg responded to Griffin’s revelation with concern and disbelief. The veteran host questioned whether workplace interactions should ever reach such an emotional threshold.

“The thing that shocks me, for me, is there is nothing that people should be able to do to you to make you cry,” Goldberg stated, expressing her perspective on professional boundaries.

Goldberg extended support to Griffin while emphasizing that emotional distress should not be an accepted part of the work environment.

“Let us support you, because nobody should be crying at this job. Nobody,” Goldberg added, reinforcing her stance on workplace treatment.

The current workplace culture at “The View” contrasts sharply with the experiences described by Griffin’s predecessor.

McCain’s departure in 2021 was accompanied by serious allegations about the show’s environment, according to Fox News reporting.

McCain documented her experiences in her memoir, alleging that some hosts maintained “toxic” and deliberately hostile attitudes toward her.

Her account included specific incidents that illustrated the challenging dynamics.

One particularly telling incident involved Behar’s comment about not missing McCain during her maternity leave. The remark reportedly caused McCain to cry after filming concluded.

Griffin’s approach to handling disagreements appears more measured than McCain’s confrontational style.

She often finds common ground with her liberal colleagues despite ideological differences.
