Chris Wallace Drops ‘Brutally Honest’ Truth Bomb About Harris On-Air

CNN host Chris Wallace has pulled back the curtain on a previously undisclosed Democratic strategy that could have dramatically altered the 2024 presidential race.

Just six months ago, high-ranking party officials were reportedly considering ways to remove Vice President Kamala Harris from President Joe Biden’s ticket, a move that would have sent shockwaves through the political landscape.

Wallace’s bombshell revelation came during a discussion about the ongoing Democratic National Convention (DNC), which he described as “going fine” in its third night.

However, the veteran journalist couldn’t help but draw attention to the elephant in the room – the lingering doubts about Harris’s position on the ticket that had plagued the party earlier this year.

“To be brutally honest about it, six months ago there were a lot of delegates that are here and a lot of Democratic officials who were thinking, ‘Gee, maybe we could get rid of Kamala Harris and we’d have somebody else as a backup to Joe Biden,’” Wallace stated, his words cutting through the carefully crafted image of party unity.

The revelation comes against a backdrop of Harris’s historically low approval ratings, which had plummeted to a mere 36.3% in November 2023.

This dismal showing had apparently fueled discussions within Democratic circles about potential alternatives to the vice president.

Wallace went on to describe the current convention as “strange,” noting that Harris has only been the official nominee for 30 days.

“Usually a convention is the end of a process. They’ve gone through an entire six months, a year of a presidential campaign — New Hampshire, Iowa, all the primaries. This one is the beginning of a process in a sense,” he explained.

The CNN host also highlighted what he perceived as a lack of personal connection between Harris and the Democratic base.

Drawing an analogy to a new relationship, Wallace said, “It feels more like a romance where you’re in the first month that’s very intoxicating, you really like the person, but you haven’t fallen in love yet.”

This sentiment was echoed by New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), who, as reported by Daily Caller, had initially criticized the immediate backing of Harris.

In a July livestream, AOC  stated, “If you think that there is consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave, that they will support Vice President Harris, you would be mistaken.”

She went on to add, “A lot of them are not just interested in removing the president. They are interested in removing the whole ticket.”

The controversy surrounding Harris’s position on the ticket reached a fever pitch following Biden’s widely criticized debate performance against presidential hopeful Donald Trump in June.

With Harris’s approval rating hovering at a mere 39.5% in March, Democrats found themselves divided on whether to accept her as Biden’s potential replacement.

Despite these earlier misgivings, the Democratic Party has now rallied behind Harris as their nominee for the upcoming presidential election.

AOC herself has since endorsed the vice president, following Biden’s withdrawal from the race.

As the DNC continues, all eyes will be on Harris to see if she can overcome the lingering doubts and unite the party behind her candidacy.

With less than three months until Election Day, the stakes couldn’t be higher for both Harris and the Democratic Party as a whole.
