Suspect Who Attacked Paul Pelosi Is an Illegal Immigrant, Report Says
In a quickly evolving story, authorities have revealed that David DePape, the man accused of attacking Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with a hammer last Friday is an illegal immigrant.
NEW: Per ICE source, David DePape, the suspect accused of beating Paul Pelosi in his home with a hammer after breaking in, is currently in the U.S. illegally as a “longtime” visa overstay. @FoxNews— Bill Melugin (@BillFOXLA) October 31, 2022
Reports of the incident vary widely. Some blame the attack on MAGA Republicans; others point out that the assailant was a far-Left nudist, black-lives-matter supporter from Berkeley.
Some report that Pelosi and DePape knew each other — a claim the Pelosis deny. The Pelosis also deny reports that both Paul and David were in their underwear when police arrived — and that there were three, not two, men in the house when police arrived.
Others question how a man armed with a hammer was able to enter the heavily secured home of the person third in line for the presidency.
The attack on Paul Pelosi reportedly occurred in the early hours of Friday morning. The assailant, now identified as 42-year-old David Wayne DePape, is in custody.
San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott said that DePape was “looking for Nancy Pelosi and intended to break her kneecaps.”
If convicted, DePape could face a sentence of 30 years in prison.
San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins is expected to announce further felony charges within 24 hours.
The Daily Wire notes that charges could include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and elder abuse.
