Mitch McConnell Breaks Historic D.C. Record – The Republican Senate Leader Just Became the Longest-Serving Party Leader

What’s Happening:

It’s no secret that Republican voters are growing less and less impressed with Mitch McConnell. Once upon a time, he appeared to be an ally. He worked hard to get President Trump’s judicial picks confirmed. But since 2020, the Republican Senate leader appears to be bending over backward to help Biden and Democrats rob Americans blind.

But it gets worse. Mitch McConnell has helped pass many of Biden’s reckless spending bills. He refused to use his party’s bargaining position to secure wins for Americans, constantly folding for the left. And now, it appears he has broken another terrible record–as Americans call for major changes to Congress.

From Axios:

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell plans to mark his tenure as the chamber’s longest-serving party leader with a speech on Tuesday afternoon paying tribute to the previous record holder: former Sen. Mike Mansfield, a Democrat from Montana…

McConnell has stayed in charge of the Senate GOP at a time of intense turmoil in the Republican Party, with powerful populist currents threatening its traditional power structures.

Mitch McConnell, the 80-year-old “Republican” from Kentucky, will become the longest-serving party leader in the Senate this year. To celebrate, he will give a speech praising himself, and the former recorder holder a Democrat, on the Senate floor.

Big whup. McConnell has marked his time as the leader of Republicans like a mafia boss. He has bullied and pushed around his party to pass measures that benefit special interest groups, lobbyists, and foreign nations.

He has repeatedly turned against the GOP in recent years to rubber-stamp Biden’s socialist agenda. Even when he had a chance to freeze Joe and Democrats in their tracks, he refused.

Many blame him for the lack of a red wave in the 2022 Elections. McConnell prevented many Republicans from pushing their agenda, instead forcing them to focus on Biden’s failures. He pulled funding for Republican candidates in hotly-contested races.

At the 11th hour, he even helped Biden pass another trillion-plus spending bill, during an intense time of recession.

This “record” is only a sign that we need term limits. McConnell has been able to exploit his position, because he can keep getting re-elected. Thanks to the power of being an incumbent (and controlling fundraising) he can ensure nobody ever challenges his seat.

But term limits would bring his tyranny to an end and allow new faces to enter the Senate. It will take a lot for Congress to pass term limits on themselves. Americans still need to push for them, though.

Key Takeaways:

  • Mitch McConnell is the longest-serving party leader in the Senate.
  • He is considered a RINO by many and a traitor to his party.
  • McConnell protects the D.C. status quo, supporting Biden’s massive spending plans.
