Seconds After Thief Tries to Rob Elderly Woman, Cop’s Body Cam Captures What Happens Next

Con artists have always been a problem in our society. However, with the rapid development of advanced technology, thieves are coming up with new ways to rob people blind. If not for diligent and helpful patriots, many Americans could see their life savings wiped out instantly.

One of these patriots watched an alarming scene unfold at a gas station outside Fort Worth, Texas — an elderly woman was on the phone with someone claiming to be from Chase Bank.

The person was bullying the woman into paying back some “debt.” But to do so, she had to deposit all her money into a cryptocurrency machine. When a bystander saw this woman frantically shoving thousands of dollars into the machine, she called the police. That’s when one officer saved the day, big time.

From The Blaze:
An elderly woman in Texas was seconds away from being scammed out of tens of thousands of dollars when an alert bystander called police and helped save the woman.

The video shows [Sgt. James] Stewart taking the phone from the woman and yelling at the scammer…

“Yes, it is my problem! Because what you’re doing is committing a crime! That makes it my problem!” he answers…

The woman was able to file a fraud report with the company that runs the cryptocurrency machine and will receive her money back.

A con artist tried to trick a woman into sending her cash. Posing as a Chase Bank employee, the woman targeted this elderly victim. She bullied and intimidated her, convincing her she owed some massive debt. To “pay back” the debt this fake bank employee claimed she had to send her money through a crypto service.

The bystander, a woman named Myndi Jordan, knew something was wrong when she started shoving hundred-dollar bills into the machine. She had already deposited $23,000 into it and taken out $44,000 in cash—most likely her life savings.

When Jordan couldn’t stop the woman, she called the police. Sgt. James Stewart arrived and quickly intervened; he took the elderly woman’s phone and confronted the crook. Thankfully, he was able to stop the woman from giving away the rest of her money and according to reports, the crypto service was alerted to the problem and will refund the money already deposited.

This is a recent, modern scam perpetrated by thieves. Many of them work outside the U.S. and use cryptocurrency services to steal money, as victims are tricked into depositing cash through these services. The money is sent to an account overseas, where it is withdrawn and lost forever.

This time, however, an elderly woman was saved thanks to a quick-thinking patriot and a dedicated police officer.
