Senior Pentagon Planner Axed Over Explosive Social Media Posts
Senior Pentagon Joint Chiefs Planner Fired After Anti-Israel Posts Surface
A U.S. Army colonel assigned to a key Pentagon advisory role has been removed from his position following the discovery of inflammatory anti-Israel comments he made on social media.
Col. Nathan McCormack held the role of Levant and Egypt branch chief within the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s J5 planning directorate, responsible for strategic guidance on military operations and security policy in the region.
McCormack began his assignment in June 2024, according to his LinkedIn profile.
In this role, he was charged with preparing senior military officials for engagements with partner nations, including Israel, and providing policy recommendations to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
His position placed him at the center of strategic military planning involving some of America’s closest allies.
The Joint Staff confirmed that McCormack was removed from his duties after inflammatory remarks surfaced on his semi-autonomous X account, where he posted under the name “Nate.”
His account, now deleted, contained posts that harshly criticized Israel’s government and military actions.
One such post referred to Israel as a “death cult” and described Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his associates as “Judeo-supremacist cronies,” according to the Jewish News Syndicate.
A Pentagon official told The Daily Wire that the case has been turned over to the U.S. Army for further investigation and disciplinary action.
The official emphasized that McCormack’s personal views do not represent the position of the Department of Defense or the Joint Staff.
“Our global alliances and partnerships are vital to our national security, enhancing our collective defense, deterrence, and operational reach,” the official said.
The officer’s social media posts frequently referenced his official responsibilities and sometimes included images tied to his military career, such as his Meritorious Service Medal certificate.
He also openly discussed military planning and diplomatic engagements, including warnings given to Israel regarding escalation in Lebanon.
McCormack’s controversial remarks intensified following the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror attack on Israeli civilians.
In several posts, he questioned U.S. support for Israel and criticized Israeli military responses.
In April 2024, he wrote that Western nations “go to great lengths to avoid criticism of Israel, much out of Holocaust guilt.”
He also publicly questioned whether the U.S. had become “Israel’s proxy,” calling it “our worst ‘ally.’”
In May, McCormack accused the Israeli government of prolonging the conflict “to remain in power or to annex the land.”
His criticism of Israel’s military actions included statements that Israel “always (always—not hyperbole) disproportionately target[s] Palestinian civilians,” a comment made before he assumed his Joint Chiefs role.
His posts went beyond personal opinion, delving into details of official U.S. warnings to Israel, according to Conservative Brief.
In August 2024, he claimed that U.S. officials warned Israel it would be “fuxked” if it escalated conflict with Lebanon—a warning that was followed by Israel’s military operation against Hezbollah two months later.
Most recently, McCormack asserted that the Department of Defense, along with the World Health Organization and United Nations, considers casualty figures released by the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry to be “generally reliable.”
He noted, however, that the accuracy may have decreased due to the ongoing destruction in Gaza.
Following the revelations, McCormack deleted his X account, removing the posts that triggered his removal. The Pentagon continues to review the matter internally.
