Former President Donald Trump has been mum about his vice president running mate selection. Everyone is looking for clues as to who might be the person thrust into the limelight alongside Trump in what will certainly be a contentious final run for the White House.

Speculation from conservatives and liberals has been furious at times whenever hints about a VP pick circulate through the media. Whoever gets picked will lead the news headlines of the day and suffer the gauntlet of attacks from leftists through the November election and beyond.

Everyone seems to be relaying an opinion about Trump’s selection, even those who are apparently on the former president’s short list. A glimpse into how Trump will make his selection was provided by one of his favorite senators who is a possible VP pick.

From the Washington Examiner:
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) stated that whoever former President Donald Trump picks for his vice president will be based on the topics that voters face every day.

“Well, I don’t think it’s about the who, it’s about the what,” Scott said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “It’s about the issues that the American people face.”

Trump is the presumptive presidential nominee for the Republican Party. He hasn’t announced who will join his 2024 ticket. During interviews he has suggested that he will make a decision “closer to Wisconsin time” which is a reference to the Republican National Convention Milwaukee this July.

Scott is rumored to be among the candidates Trump is considering for his vice-presidential pick. Others include Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL), J.D. Vance (R-OH), Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), and former Hawaii Democrat Tulsi Gabbard.

During his Fox interview, Scott highlighted the failures of Biden and Kamala Harris over the last three years. He referred to their term in office as devastating to the American people.

Scott wants to help people realize the American dream, such as starting a business, is important for the sake of the nation. Scott criticized Biden’s failures that included record-high inflation where people in his home state are paying over $25,000 “for the same things they could buy under President Trump.”

Whoever gets the VP nod from Trump will face off against the cackling Harris in a debate scheduled for either July 23 or Aug. 13. Like the presidential debate format – demanded by Biden – the VP candidates would debate in a studio without a live audience and various controls designed to favor the Democrats.

Biden and Trump have agreed to debate with CNN hosting on June 27 with a second one scheduled to take place on ABC on Sept. 10.
