Trump Explodes on MSNBC Star After Profane On-Air Critique
Trump Blasts MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace After Fiery On-Air Critique of Putin Meeting
President Donald Trump renewed his feud with MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace on Sunday, posting on Truth Social that she was “afraid of losing her job” and predicting she “will be fired soon.”
He linked to an article labeling her the “Typhoid Mary of Disinformation” and added, “She is a loser, with bad ratings, who was already thrown off of The View. She will be fired soon! MSNBC IS DEAD!”
The attack came after Wallace criticized Trump’s Alaska summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on her program “Deadline: White House.” She accused him of showing little concern for Ukraine and American allies.
“It’s watching them scrape and struggle to get an American president who supported them [Ukraine], to give them all the weapons they needed to go toe-to-toe with Russia,” Wallace said, per Fox News.
“And to see all that potentially erased by an American president who just doesn’t give a s— about democracy. He doesn’t care about our allies. He doesn’t care about a democratic ally’s sovereignty.”
Wallace also highlighted the president’s body language during the summit, noting his interactions with Putin.
“There’s a lot of touching,” she said. “I don’t know that we always see him touching Melania as much as he touched Putin today.”
“The handshake and then the hand on top of the hand. I mean, everything that over nine years we’ve learned about Trump, this is as fawning as he can be with any public figure he’s ever photographed with.”
The Alaska meeting produced no immediate progress toward a Ukraine ceasefire and drew criticism from opponents who argued that Putin dominated both the substance and optics of the summit.
The White House responded that the meeting laid groundwork for future negotiations.
This is not the first time Trump has targeted Wallace.
In 2020, he wrote on Twitter that she had been “thrown off The View like a dog” and called her “a 3rd rate lapdog for Fake News MSDNC (Concast).”
Trump has often branded MSNBC as “MSDNC” and derided its parent company as “Concast.”
Wallace briefly referenced Trump’s latest comments during her Monday broadcast.
She told viewers, “I witnessed that firsthand myself,” before continuing her criticism of the president.
At one point she cut short a clip of Trump discussing mail-in ballots, as reported by The Daily Beast.
“We’re going to just cut it right there because all of that is completely false,” she said, citing the international use of mail-in voting and noting that Trump himself has cast ballots that way.
She concluded that his renewed focus on the issue reflected “one of his longest standing and most dangerous, unfounded delusions: that he didn’t actually lose the 2020 presidential election.”
Despite Trump’s attacks on her “poor ratings,” “Deadline: White House” remains one of MSNBC’s most-watched shows, the New York Post reports.
On Aug. 8, the program drew more than 1 million viewers in both the 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. hours, outperforming CNN in one slot but trailing Fox News’ “Will Cain Show” and “The Five,” which pulled in far larger audiences.
The latest clash adds to a years-long war of words between Trump and MSNBC personalities, a list that includes Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Lawrence O’Donnell.
