Trump ‘Very Honored’ by DeSantis Endorsement After He Drops Off Race
Former President Trump said he is “very honored” after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis endorsed him, telling Fox News that he is looking forward “to working together with him to beat Joe Biden.”
On Sunday, DeSantis suspended his 2024 presidential campaign, endorsing Trump over the only remaining other primary candidate, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.
“It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance. They watched his presidency get stymied by relentless resistance and they see Democrats using lawfare to this day to attack him,” DeSantis said Sunday in a video posted to X.
“While I have had disagreements with Donald Trump, such as on the coronavirus pandemic and his elevation of Anthony Fauci, Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. That is clear.”
“I signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee, and I will support that pledge,” DeSantis said, adding, “He has my endorsement because we cannot go back to the Republican guard of yesteryear, a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism that Nikki Haley represents.”

“Very honored to have his endorsement,” Trump told Fox News. “I look forward to working together with him to beat Joe Biden, who is the worst and most corrupt president in the history of our country.”
Last Monday, Trump handily won the Iowa caucuses, winning every county in the state save one. He is currently leading by double digits in New Hampshire ahead of Haley.
