Informer Flipped On Trump, Told FBI What Docs Trump Had And Where: Report

Newsweek is reporting that someone flipped on former President Donald Trump and told the FBI Trump had classified documents at Mar a Lago and where they were.

According to the report, “The raid on Mar-a-Lago was based largely on information from an FBI confidential human source, two senior government officials told Newsweek.” The magazine is also reporting a Grand Jury heard evidence in the case and concluded there had been a violation of the law.

According to Newsweek, “In late April, the source says, a federal grand jury began deliberating whether there was a violation of the Presidential Records Act or whether President Trump unlawfully possessed national security information.

“Through the grand jury process, the National Archives provided federal prosecutors with copies of the documents received from former President Trump in January 2022. The grand jury concluded that there had been a violation of the law, according to the Justice Department source.”

The Dems and their friends in the media will be heartbroken to learn this is not part of some big criminal case against Trump, but rather a dispute over records.

Trump is famously stubborn and was working with the Feds on these records. Reports differ on how cooperative Trump has been lately, but if this was all about a Kim Jong Un letter or something equally harmless Biden will have to fire some people.

According to The New York Post:

A showdown over the materials first erupted back in January when the National Archives said it had retrieved 15 boxes of White House records — including classified information — from Mar-a-Lago that Trump should have turned over when he left office. The feds took another 12 boxes of material on Monday.

Some of the items recovered in January included correspondence from Kim Jong Un and a letter former President Barack Obama had written his successor, sources told the Wall Street Journal.

A list of the unclassified items found in the boxes was about 100 pages long — and included the cocktail napkin and a birthday dinner menu, according to a Washington Post source.

Other items included schedules, a phone list, letters, memos, talking points, slide decks and schedules.

An inventory list of classified materials was roughly three pages long, but there were no immediate details on what the information entailed.

Newsweek spoke to two government officials, a senior intelligence official and a Justice Department official, for the report.

“I know that there is much speculation out there that this is political persecution, but it is really the best and the worst of the bureaucracy in action,” the DOJ official said.

“They wanted to punctuate the fact that this was a routine law enforcement action, stripped of any political overtones, and yet they got exactly the opposite.”

“They were seeking to avoid any media circus,” said a senior intelligence official who was briefed on the operation.

“So even though everything made sense bureaucratically and the FBI feared that the documents might be destroyed, they also created the very firestorm they sought to avoid, in ignoring the fallout.”

“In order for the investigators to convince the Florida judge to approve such an unprecedented raid, the information had to be solid, which the FBI claimed.”

The Justice Department official said Merrick Garland was aware of the investigation but the AG did not know the time or date of the raid.

“I know it’s hard for people to believe,” the official said, “but this was a matter for the U.S. Attorney and the FBI.”

“It really is a case of the Bureau misreading the impact. What a spectacular backfire,” the official added.
