The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected President Trump’s bid to send the National Guard to Chicago, marking a rare setback for him in the country’s highest court.
In an unsigned order, the high court concluded that the Trump administration failed to provide sufficient evidence that the president has the power to deploy the National Guard to the Windy City even for the purposes of protecting Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
“At this preliminary stage, the government has failed to identify a source of authority that would allow the military to execute the laws in Illinois,” the Supreme Court wrote in its order.
Trump had been blocked by the lower courts from sending the National Guard to Chicago. His administration had hoped the Supreme Court would block those prior orders.
Conservative Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch all dissented.

Well, the path is pretty simple and clear now.
President Trump tried to do it the “nice” way, but now he will need to invoke the Insurrection Act:

Actually, Justice Kavanaugh in his Dissent basically gave President Trump the roadmap on what he can do instead….

I am reading through the Supreme Court ruling in Trump vs. Illinois, and they ruled that Trump needs to invoke the Insurrection Act in order to send the troops into Chicago.
Kavanaugh in his dissent even says that this ruling “could cause the President to use the US military more than the National Guard”.
The Supreme Court just admitted that Trump has the authority to invoke the Insurrection Act to bypass Posse Comitatus and send the troops to Chicago, and any other city he wants.
Trump tried to exhaust every legal avenue possible before resulting to the Insurrection Act, but the Dems resisted and refused to cooperate.
Sounds to me like Trump just got the green light. INVOKE THE INSURRECTION ACT!
