GOP Sends Top Biden Official into Panic – If He Doesn’t Cooperate, They Will Drop the Hammer
Joe Biden’s “old man” testimony before the special counsel in his classified records case is getting more attention. U.S. House Republicans want all the details of what Biden told the special counsel who declined to prosecute the president.
The problem is that Republicans on key committees in the House can’t get access to the records. The Department of Justice (DOJ) officials are once again stonewalling the release of detailed information in an effort to protect their leftist dear leader, Biden.
GOP leaders haven’t given up the task of exposing the whole truth about what Biden told the special counsel. They want all the records and they set a timeline for the head of the DOJ to deliver.
From Fox News:
House Republicans are threatening to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress over the Justice Department’s failure to produce subpoenaed audio recordings of former Special Counsel Robert Hur’s interview with President Biden as part of the investigation into his handling of classified records.“The February 27 subpoenas create a legal obligation on you to produce this material. If you fail to do so, the Committees will consider taking further action, such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings.”
Those statements were made by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, in a letter to Garland on Monday. They demanded Garland “produce all responsive materials no later than 12:00 p.m. on April 8, 2024.”
The letter stated that Comer and Jordan believe the DOJ continues to withhold more material wanted by the committees’ subpoenas. Specifically, the committees want the audio recordings and not the previously supplied redacted transcripts of Biden’s testimony.
Republicans also want the transcript and audio recordings of Special Counsel Hur’s interviews with Mark Zwonitzer, the ghostwriter for Biden’s memoirs “Promise Me, Dad” and “Promises to Keep.” Comer and Jordan subpoenaed Zwonitzer last week for all documents and communications, including emails and call logs, with Biden or his staff related to work on the memoirs.
The subpoena also demanded that Zwonitzer to turn over all contracts and agreements related to his work, along with audio recordings of interviews and conversations with Biden and transcripts of those conversations and interviews.
Hur testified to Congress that, despite the president claiming he never shared classified information with Zwonitzer, Biden did indeed expose classified details. Hur stated that Biden would “read from his notebooks nearly verbatim, sometimes for an hour or more at a time,” and “at least three times President Biden read classified notes from national security meetings” to Zwonitzer “nearly verbatim.”
During Hur’s public hearing before Congress, Jordan focused on whether the ghostwriter tried to “destroy the evidence,” to which Hur testified, “Correct.”
Hur also testified that Zwonitzer “slid” files of audio recordings and transcripts of conversations with Biden “into his recycle bin on his computer” after learning of a special counsel appointment to investigate Biden.
