Military Hero Set to Make History in D.C. – And It Would Give the GOP a Big Boost

Much is on the line in the upcoming elections. Congress could be reshaped, and with it, the entire country. Democrats are fighting to expand their control over D.C.

But experts have pointed out many opportunities for Republicans to gain ground, expanding their majority in the House.

In one deep blue state, a former Marine is looking to flip a Democrat seat to Republican. If she does it, she will be making history.

From Fox News:
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and security official in Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s administration is aiming to be the first female former Marine ever elected to serve in Congress…

Aliscia Andrews, the deputy secretary of Homeland Security for the Commonwealth of Virginia, announced she was joining the race to try and flip the suburban Democrat-held 10th Congressional District…

Democratic Rep. Jennifer Wexton announced earlier this year that she would not seek re-election in the district.

A House seat out of Virginia has become a flip opportunity after incumbent Democrat Jennifer Wexton announced she was not seeking re-election. A member of Gov. Youngkin’s administration has set her sights on the seat.

If she wins it, she won’t just flip the seat for Republicans, but she will become the first female Marine veteran ever elected to Congress.

Aliscia Andrews serves as the deputy secretary of Homeland Security for the Commonwealth of Virginia. At the age of twenty, she joined the Marine Corps. She said the experience of serving her country with the Marines shaped her “as an individual.”

Andrews has taken what she’s learned from the Marines across her entire career. She stated that what she is seeing in this district, under Democrat leadership, isn’t “getting better.”

She also spoke of the fentanyl crisis, linked to Biden’s border crisis, that has taken the lives of countless Americans. Andrews has also criticized Washington’s “reckless spending.” The Republican could tap into the dissatisfaction some voters have over Democrat leadership, to secure her seat.

Republicans reportedly have ample opportunities to expand their majority in Congress. On top of that, they could even gain a strong majority in the Senate. How Andrews fairs in the traditionally blue state of Virginia, remains to be seen.
