The email which was sent out by DOGE required federal workers to respond by Monday and if they refused “it would be taken as a resignation.”

The New York Post had these details to add:

More than 1 million federal staffers, less than half the government’s workforce, have responded to Elon Musk’s demand to come up with five things they accomplished on the job last week, the White House says.

Musk emailed his edict to federal workers Saturday and gave them a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Monday to answer, then warned on X that “failure to respond will be taken as a resignation” — only to walk back his threat a bit later as confusion reigned and offer the staffers a second chance.

“I can announce that we’ve had more than 1 million workers who have chosen to participate in this very simple task of, again, sending five bullet points to your direct supervisor or manager,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Tuesday.

Asked when is the deadline referred to in Elon Musk’s deadline second email to federal workers, Leavitt says agency heads will “determine the best practices for their employees at their specific agencies”.

“The secretaries are responsible for their specific workforce, and this is true of the hirings and the firings that have taken place,” she says.

She adds that unless their agency has told them not to, workers should reply to the email.

She claims more than a million workers have so far responded, including herself.

It took me about a minute and a half to think of five things I did last week. I do five things in about ten minutes, and all federal workers should be working at the same pace that President Trump is working.
