Shock Fight Shakes Up GOP Debate on Live TV – 2 Candidates Nail Each Other with Brutal Insults
Yet another GOP debate was held this week. Although most of the candidates are polling far behind Donald Trump, they are still hosting expensive events.
But some might wonder what these debates are accomplishing. Critics have pointed out they usually devolve into shouting matches.
And this one was no different. Americans were shocked over a row between two of the candidates.
From Reuters:
Ramaswamy… provoked groans from the audience during a discussion on banning TikTok when he mentioned that Haley’s daughter had used the Chinese short video app.“You might want to take care of your family first,” he told Haley, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and a former governor of South Carolina.
“Leave my daughter out of your voice,” Haley shot back, adding under her breath, “You’re just scum.”
Ramaswamy took a shot at Nikki Haley over the TikTok debate. He pointed out that her daughter uses the app that many Republicans want to be banned over links to China. Haley was clearly outraged by Ramaswamy’s statement, being heard saying “You’re just scum.”
The Republican candidate did not let the comment lie still. He quickly called out Haley over the insult.
From Politico:
Ramaswamy said Haley showed a “startling lack of awareness” by discussing the app “sanctimoniously” on stage and not acknowledging that the GOP could use the platform to reach younger voters and expand its appeal.“It’s not a sin to be on TikTok,” he said. “It’s a generational divide. Most young people who I meet are.”
Ramaswamy was critical of Haley’s attacks on TikTok when he claimed it could be used to reach the “next generation” of American voters. He claimed that most young people he meets use the app.
Haley was unrepentant over her slander and appeared to be ignoring Ramaswamy’s warnings.
From The Hill:
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said she was “showing a lot of restraint” when she called fellow White House hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy “scum”…“He threw a petty shot there. I mean, it says more about him than it does about me,” she added.
Instead of apologizing for calling a fellow Republican “scum,” Haley claimed she was showing “restraint.” It does not appear that she commented on Ramaswamy’s calls to use apps like TikTok to reach Americans.
Ramaswamy was pushing Haley’s buttons all night, at one point calling her “Dick Cheney in 3-inch heels” and suggesting she was too old to lead. It is likely their feud will only heat up in the coming months.
