Shock Poll Reveals Most Hated Congress Member – And He’s Rock Bottom for Both Parties
Americans on both sides of the political spectrum have a particular villain in Congress. There is always that one member who rubs people wrong no matter what political party they align with at the ballot box.
Congress doesn’t have a strong approval rating as a whole. People are tired of the antics and lack of accomplishments displayed in both the Senate and the House.
A recent poll shows that all members of Congress are upside down in approval ratings. But one member of Congress polled worse than everyone else and he’s one of the most powerful political leaders in D.C.
From Fox News:
According to the poll, just 6% of adults say they approve of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s, R-Ky., job performance, with a whopping 60% saying they disapprove. 34% had no opinion.
McConnell couldn’t even get a positive response among Republicans. He was the only member with a net negative approval rating within his own party. Only 10% of GOP respondents approved of McConnell’s job performance, with 41% disapproving and 49% having no opinion.
One striking aspect of the poll is that McConnell actually fell in ratings from earlier in the year. The latest poll showed McConnell’s approval rating slipped from 12% in July, with 50% disapproving and 37% having no opinion.
Democrats appear to be more supportive of their congressional leaders. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., received a 21% approval rating, with 41% saying they disapproved and 38% having no opinion. Within his own party, however, Schumer received a 48% approval rating, compared to 18% who disapproved and 34% who had no opinion.
Members on the House side didn’t win any popularity contests either.
Only 17% said they approved of the job performance of Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., with 31% disapproving and 51% with no opinion. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., fared slightly better with a 21% approval rating, 22% disapproving and 56% having no opinion.
Take them or leave them, these polls reveal an opinion of the nation’s political leaders that is shockingly low. Congress could, and should, do better.
