“Aware Of Truth”; Donald Trump Sues ABC News and George Stephanopoulos for Defamation

Declaring that the American Broadcasting Companies (ABC) and ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos have defamed him, President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit on Monday. According to the complaint, Mr. Stephanopoulos repeatedly said on “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” on March 10 that a jury had found President Trump guilty of the rape of writer E. Jean Carroll even though he was “aware of the truth,” defaming the president.

As to the lawsuit, “Defendant Stephanopoulos made these statements with actual malice or reckless disregard for the truth, knowing that they are patently and demonstrably false.” These statements were and are false.

According to President Trump’s lawsuit, Mr. Stephanopoulos “still falsely stated otherwise” while being aware that the jury found the former president not guilty of rape. “With intent to harm” President Trump, Mr. Stephanopoulos reportedly made these defamatory remarks “within the scope and course of his employment or contractual relationship” with ABC.

The ABC presenter “was and is aware of the truth regarding the determinations made by the subject juries,” according to the document, which included two arguments in favor of the allegation that the remarks were made “with intent to harm.”

Mr. Stephanopoulos’s remarks “seem to have been prepared in advance and were written on notes that he was reading from while making these defamatory statements,” according to the additional reason included in the lawsuit.

According to the petition, Ms. Carroll said that the alleged encounter happened at Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan more than 20 years ago, but she was unable to pinpoint the exact date. President Trump has persisted in refuting the accusations.
