Biden Cracks During Speech: ‘No No No No…C’mon Now’ – WATCH

Let’s dive into the latest from President Biden, who spoke on Tuesday before a crowd of gun control advocates. While calling for an assault weapons ban and other measures to curb gun violence, he didn’t address his son’s recent convictions for lying about his past drug use when purchasing a firearm.

Biden’s remarks were made at the Everytown for Gun Safety’s annual training conference in Washington D.C., a gathering that brings together gun safety advocates and survivors of gun violence. He highlighted several executive actions aimed at reducing gun violence, including measures targeting “ghost guns” and weapons trafficking. “Folks, we’re not stopping there. It’s time once again to do what I did when I was a senator: Ban assault weapons,” Biden stated. He added, “Who in God’s name needs a magazine that can hold 200 shells?”

In his speech, Biden also criticized Republicans for their opposition to many gun control measures and their scrutiny of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). He took a firm stance on the Second Amendment, saying, “There’s never been a time that says you can own whatever you want. You couldn’t own a cannon during the Civil War.” However, this assertion has been contested by some historians and experts.

David Kopel, the research director, and Second Amendment project director at the Independence Institute, pointed out that there were no federal laws about the type of gun one could own in the early years after America was founded. “Not until the early 1800s were there any efforts to pass restrictions on carrying concealed weapons,” he told The Washington Post.

On the other side, Randy Kozuch, Executive Director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), responded to Biden’s proposals. He told Fox News Digital, “The gun and magazine bans championed by President Biden will only result in law-abiding Americans being outgunned by criminals. Instead of playing politics, his administration should focus on prosecuting and punishing violent offenders. The NRA and its millions of members will continue to fight against bad proposals that restrict the rights of lawful gun owners.”

Meanwhile, just hours before Biden’s speech, his son, Hunter Biden, was found guilty on all charges in a high-profile criminal case. Hunter was convicted of making false statements when purchasing a firearm in 2018. Specifically, he lied on a federal firearm form when he denied being an unlawful user of or addicted to controlled substances. The gun was bought from StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply in Wilmington, Delaware.

Following the verdict, Hunter Biden released a statement expressing gratitude for the support he received from his family and community. “Recovery is possible by the grace of God, and I am blessed to experience that gift one day at a time,” he said.

In response to his son’s verdict, President Biden traveled to Wilmington, Delaware. The White House announced, “The president will depart the Washington Hilton en route to Joint Base Andrews,” followed by, “Then the president will depart Joint Base Andrews en route to Wilmington, Delaware.”

This contrast of Biden’s push for stricter gun control measures and his son’s legal troubles related to firearm purchases has added another layer to the ongoing debate over gun laws in America.
