Kash Patel Floats Recruiting UFC Fighters to Train FBI Agents: Report

FBI Director Kash Patel is wasting no time to ensure that agents of the agency are well-prepared and fit to carry out their responsibilities.

The new director is considering recruiting fighters from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to help train FBI agents. He reportedly floated the idea during his first meeting with the FBI’s 55 field office supervisor on Wednesday.

Patel reportedly said he came up with the idea to partner with the UFC after Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino inspired him.

Bongino was appointed by President Donald Trump to the position.

Notably, the president is a staunch supporter of the UFC and is close friends with the organization’s CEO, Dana White.

Trump has attended multiple sold out UFC events, where he was met by roaring crowds.

As of today, the FBI has declined to comment on Patel’s apparent plan. A UFC official said the company was “not aware of any information regarding UFC and FBI training.”

Since being sworn in, Patel has made headlines with some of the decisions he has issued.

For example, the FBI director has already transferred 1,500 agents from the bureau across the country, as TTOA previously reported.

During his confirmation hearing, Patel said he wanted to reform the FBI after allies of the president called for the bureau to be dissolved, citing its decision to raid Trump’s residence in West Palm Beach, Florida: Mar-a-Lago.

Patel stressed the need to “make sure we don’t have 100,000 rapes in this country next year, make sure we don’t have 100,000 drug overdoses from Chinese fentanyl and Mexican heroin, and make sure we don’t have 17,000 homicides,” according to the New York Post.

“Those numbers need to be cut in half immediately,” he said, “and the public will regain trust in the FBI and law enforcement.”

Multiple FBI agents reacted to reports about Patel’s plan to partner with the UFC, calling it “surreal” and “wacky,” as the Post reported.

“There is training the FBI receives in physical altercations. If Kash Patel believed that should be beefed up, the answer is not to go to Donald Trump’s best friend who runs the UFC,” a former Department of Justice (DOJ) official said. “It’s clearly motivated by the glitz and glamour show, and Trump’s friend.”

Trump’s history with the UFC extends back to 2001, when the real estate mogul invited the UFC to perform its fights at his Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was this same year when Dana White took control of the company.

At the time, the UFC was not nearly as well known as it currently is. In fact, Las Vegas didn’t allow the company to perform in the city, according to Sportico.

During Trump’s pre-inauguration victory rally, White praised the president, saying he “embodies what being an American is all about.”

“Think of all the things President Trump had to go through to get back here. All the powerful forces that tried to take him down: the mainstream media, partisan prosecutors, assassins. It’s absolutely insane what this man has been through. And only President Trump could have fought through all those obstacles, all the attacks and still come out the winner,” White said.
